Mission Statement/Ethos

We are a Catholic school.  We are here to promote the spiritual, moral, intellectual, cultural and physical development of our pupils.  In order to do this we seek to create a safe, orderly, caring and supportive environment where our pupils may achieve their maximum potential.   We aim to provide a general education which fosters self esteem and embodies high academic standards allied to a broad range of experience, which will develop the whole child and prepare him for the demands of further education and the rapidly changing society in which we now live.

The school encourages parents to become involved in what children do at school and we hope that every parent will take advantage of the opportunities   to find out about their child’s progress in school.  We also encourage the involvement of parents through the work of the Parents Association.

The school promotes gender equity among teachers and pupils. The school will strive to promote both individually and collectively the professional and personal development of teachers through staff development programmes.      The staff of the school aspires to be co-operative, approachable, tolerant, motivated, caring, resourceful and committed to supporting and nurturing the pupils in their care.

We see our school as the extension of the home, a place where children are not just taught, but where teachers and children work, play and pray together.  The ethos of the school is Catholic. In this atmosphere we encourage the pupils to care for each other and the world around us. Deanfaimid iarracht Gaeilge a labhairt. The school motto is Glaine in ár gCroí.

Our basic intention is to help each child realise his maximum potential in a happy school environment.
